Brief History of Khatam University
Khatam University was originally established under the name Khatam Non-Governmental Higher Education Institute, beginning with the admission of master’s students in the field of Biology (Cell and Molecular Sciences). Over the years, following significant changes in management and institutional structure, a new chapter of development unfolded. This included the expansion of academic disciplines, enhancement of educational programs, recruitment of qualified full-time faculty, and improvement of physical infrastructure.
In line with these developments, and based on the implementation of the 2013 leveling plan for non-governmental higher education institutions by the Ministry of Science, the institute earned a distinguished position among 269 non-profit institutions nationwide. Eventually, it received official recognition and the definitive license to operate under the title Khatam University.
With this transition, specialized faculties were established, including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Management and Financial Sciences, and Faculty of Art and Architecture. Following approval to admit Ph.D. students in Philosophy, the university welcomed its first cohort of doctoral candidates.
Currently, Khatam University offers programs in 58 academic fields across bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels through the national entrance exam. Benefiting from the expertise of full-time faculty and part-time professors, the university is committed to delivering cutting-edge education to those pursuing knowledge and research.
In its new phase of development, Khatam University continues to advance by leveraging modern educational facilities and equipment, upholding and improving academic standards, fostering collaboration among experienced faculty, and adhering to regulatory frameworks. To date, the university has successfully educated nearly 3,000 high-achieving students. The admission of its graduates into advanced academic programs, their recruitment into scientific, research, and executive institutions, their role in launching new businesses and knowledge-based companies, and their contributions to authoring, translating, and publishing scholarly works in prestigious national and international journals—as well as organizing scientific seminars—are all testaments to the university’s high academic standards.
