The speakers at the "National Digital Transformation Conference" emphasized the human-centered nature of this transformation and called for the revision of existing laws and the establishment of result-oriented laws to improve the digital economy in the country.
According to the reporter of Khatam University’s website, the first "National Digital Transformation Conference" organized by the Iranian Management Association was held on Wednesday, March 1st at Khatam University with the presence of a group of university professors and experts in the field of digital business.
Organizations, companies, and countries opt for this technology as it is very valuable.
Shahab Javanmardi, who graduated with a PhD in Business Management from the University of Bordeaux in France and is the CEO of Pasargad Arian Information and Communication Technology Company (FANAP), in his speech titled "Leadership in the digital transformation of the industry: a strategic guide for creating a dynamic ecosystem of the fourth industry" said: "We often think that technology is the cause of change in organizations. In developed countries, apparently, the issue is the same. However, organizations, companies, and countries pick this technology for higher reason which is its value."
"If access and transparency are important in an organization and there is appropriate and classified access to information, these will be translated into technology which can make values an inseparable part of organizations," he added.
10 steps to prevent failure in digital projects
In the following, Davar Nazari, a Ph.D. graduate in Business Administration from Tehran University, gave a speech titled "The Model of Acceptance of Transformational Technologies (What can we do to fail less?") referring to the book "Why Do Nations Fail?" and stating the point that according to Mackenzie, 70% of digital projects still fail and said: "After reading this book, I found out why digital transformation projects fail. It is worth mentioning that failing here means not achieving the goals we have set in advance."
Referring to the 10 points that FANAP infrastructure has reached to prevent failure, he explained: "The first step is to allow the maturity level of the organization to be evaluated in digital transformation. The second step is to examine the organization's strategy in terms of the existence of a digital strategy. The third step is to determine competitive advantages in digital transformation systems. The next step is to explain the roadmap, followed by appointing an experienced person with a scientific record to promote digital transformation in the organization and so on."
No matter how good the design of our product is, if the infrastructure of its supply is not provided, it will not be successful.
Mostafa Amini, a post-doctorate graduate in Data-oriented Digital Transformation from Tarbiat Modarres University, in a speech titled "The Place of Modernization of Information Technology in Digital Transformation", emphasized the need to provide infrastructure as a prerequisite for creating digital transformations in organizations and said: "No matter how hard we try in the field of Product Design, if the infrastructure is not provided, success cannot be achieved."
By enumerating the different levels of studying and examining digital transformation, which are: information technology modeling based on governance modernization, security modernization, application modernization, data modernization, hardware modernization and network modernization, he emphasized on the significance of information governance modernization in the age of information technology.
Digital transformation is human-centered, not digital-centered
In the continuation of the programs of this conference, Mehdi Beigi, a PhD graduate in Business Management from the University of Tehran, in a speech titled "Digital Competencies of Human Capital and Digital Talent Management", said: "Digital transformation is a human-centered transformation, not a digital-centered one. If we look at digital transformation from a human perspective, we will notice that digital talents are people who have 2 skills: soft skills and hard skills".
"Soft skills, which are cognitive skills, include creative thinking, understanding the organization, continuous learning, change management, problem solving, data-orientation, communication and negotiation, cooperation and teamwork, and customer orientation. Hard skills include artificial intelligence, blockchain, meta-data, metaverse, information security, cloud computing, quantum, social networks, and the internet of things," he further added.
Emphasizing the importance of the concept of operational wisdom, which includes knowledge and ability, he paid attention to the basic components of digital competency and added: "These components include moral competencies, cognitive competencies, and technological competencies. Success and prosperity can become a part of the organizations which pay attention to both technology and public good."
The basis of digital value creation is the transformation from being resource-centered to capability-centered
Ali Abdulahi, a PhD graduate in Strategic Management from Shahid Beheshti University, in a speech entitled "Digital transformation based on customer experience management", considered digital transformation to be the best solution for value creation and said: "Changing the perspective from being product-oriented to customer-oriented and from the outside to the inside are amongst the most important factors in this field."
Stating that the basis of digital value creation is the transformation from being resource-centered to capability-centered, he added: "There should be a monitoring center in the entire banking industry. Digital transformation can be a strategy in creating value for customers. Therefore, new models should be more capability-oriented than resource-oriented."
The need to revise existing laws and establish result-oriented laws to improve the digital economy
At the end of this conference, Majid Ghasemi, who is the president of Khatam University and has been graduated with a PhD in Economics from the University of Southampton, gave a speech titled "The role of new digital technologies in the economy".
