Being Reward-oriented Toward Social Responsibilities is our Loss

This faculty member of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch, criticized the ways employees and managers are rewarded by some organizations or institutions for doing their responsibilities well at workplace and said: “when I do my duties only to be rewarded and neither to be effective in the society nor as my social responsibility, such unpleasant situations can happen.”

Hesam Zand Hesami, a faculty member at Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch, in his conversation with Khatam University’s reporter emphasized on the effectiveness of the conferences like Organizational Culture Conference in promoting organizational culture in our country and mentioned: “The main audience of this conference are senior managers and leaders of organizations because we need to make a change of attitudes in our organizations and looking at such conferences as a tool is completely wrong.”

“When you have the ability to create a question in a manager’s mind, you can hope to develop a strategy that fits the problem. Therefore, it would be better to have senior managers of different organizations to present and express their experiencesat one level of the conference and at another level, those who have to implement these strategies would be present. Unfortunately, currently, many experts and senior managers are present in this conference without any classifications and organized plans, and I think it needs a reconsideration,” he added.

Zand Hesami also criticized the rewarding system at workplace in many organizations and said:“Being reward-oriented toward our social responsibilities is a big loss for us. when I do my duties only to be rewarded and neither to be effective in the society nor as my social responsibility, such unpleasant situations can happen. It shows itself more profoundly when in such situations, in many countries in the world, a business model like CSR is raised to solve arising problems andcope with challenges.”

“This problem takes shape when 14 successful companies in the world present their success factors, and from the heart of it, FQRM excellent model arises but we adopt the model only to be able to win an award and show off with it. For example, it would become a way to brag that the gas company of a certain city won this award but the gas company of the region has not! As long as this view exists among managers, especially government managers, we will not understand the depth of the matter and neither the customers nor the knowledge, employees, and social responsibilities are important to us,” he further added.

In the end, he stressed: “What happens is that I do some kind of project with X dollars, but in the same organization, a project is done with one tenth of that amount. What can be the reason? The reason is that the manager wants the result only for its FQRM, but someone who really believes in social responsibility will follow the path from the beginning to the end in a real way and according to his situation and the satisfaction that the customers are looking for.”
