Industrial Engineering Summer School to Be Held

According to the Public Relations and Website Office of Khatam University, organizations and researchers today face complex and multidimensional challenges in the areas of decision-making, data analysis, process improvement, and the generation of scientific knowledge. Under such circumstances, having research skills, modeling methods, and specialized tools plays an important role in developing scientific and professional capabilities. In this regard, Khatam Specialized Training and Skill Development Center, in cooperation with the Department of Industrial Engineering and intending to enhance the specialized, research, and practical skills of students and those interested in the field of industrial engineering, is organizing the 2026 Industrial Engineering Summer School.

This event, with a focus on practical and workshop-based training, provides participants with an opportunity to become familiar with specialized methods and tools while developing their ability to solve real-world problems in research and industry.

The Industrial Engineering Summer School includes the following three specialized courses, which will be taught by faculty members of Khatam University’s Department of Industrial Engineering:

1. Comprehensive Course on Survey Writing: From Beginner to Advanced

Instructor: Dr. Pejman Peykani, Faculty Member of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Khatam University
Course duration: 25 hours
Schedule: August 7 and 8, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Format: In-person and Virtual

The Comprehensive Course on Survey Writing: From Beginner to Advanced is designed to equip researchers with the skills needed to prepare high-quality review articles suitable for publication in reputable journals. The course will cover topics including the structure and types of review articles, systematic methods for searching academic sources, source evaluation, bibliometric analysis, identifying research gaps, principles of academic writing, and the process of preparing a paper from the initial idea through journal submission.

2. Mathematical Modeling with GAMS

Instructor: Dr. Roya Soltani, Faculty Member of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Khatam University
Course duration: 9 hours
Schedule: Thursdays, August 20, August 27, and September 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Format: Virtual

The Mathematical Modeling with GAMS course is offered through a practical, workshop-based approach. Participants will become familiar with the concepts of mathematical programming and modeling and will develop the ability to create and solve various models using GAMS through numerous exercises.

3. Business Process Management Course

Instructor: Dr. Zohreh Alipour, Faculty Member of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Khatam University
Course duration: 6 hours
Schedule: Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Format: Virtual

The Business Process Management course is designed to familiarize participants with the concepts, methods, and tools of business process management. In this course, process modeling, analysis, and implementation using the BPMN 2.0 standard, Bizagi software, and the international APQC framework will be presented in a practical, hands-on manner.
