The "NexGen Demo Day 2024" event was held by the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Iran) and with the introduction of 8 successful startups in the innovation ecosystem at Khatam University in Tehran.
According to the public relations and website of Khatam University, the second NexGen event with the title "NexGen Demo Day 2024" with the aim of introducing successful startups in the startup ecosystem of Iran was held by the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Iran) on Tuesday, 24th of February 2024, with the presence of the board members of the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as activists in the field of innovation economy. Khatam University hosted this event.
Kasra Imam Saffari; the chief operational manager of the Iran-Germany Chamber of Commerce, who was in charge of the implementation of the program, said in a short speech: “Today, 8 startup teams out of 100 teams that had applied for NexGen 2024, introduced themselves, their goals, and what their teams were looking for in the future intending to attract capital and other supports.”
According to Saffari, these startups, which were selected by the NexGen committee members for Demo Day 2024, are mainly young teams from different stages with various check sizes from 5 to 50 billion tomans, which were selected from the three fields of life sciences, green technologies, and industrial solutions.
Next, Shahin Asghari; the head of the Iran-Germany Chamber of Commerce said: “In recent years, on the one hand, the events that have happened at the global level as well as in Iran have forced economic activists to look at economic issues with a new perspective. On the other hand, political and social events in our country have caused hopelessness regarding the future of society among people. Today, our responsibility is to be a messenger of hope and to strive for its continuation.”
Emphasizing the role of startups in maintaining hope in society, he said: “We are living in a period where, on the one hand, there are great opportunities in front of us, and on the other hand, great threats have made us face great challenges. In this environment, startups can open new horizons, and the Iran-Germany Chamber of Commerce, considering the experiences it has in the field of relations with European partners, hopes to be able to provide these experiences to startups and provide them with great support.”
In the continuation of the ceremony, Shahab Javanmardi; The CEO of Fanap Company and the main member of the Board of Directors of the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Iran) also said: “These days, the economic condition of the country is facing challenges and problems, and it has made the working environment for economic activists vague and dark. In fact, we are witnessing serious internal and external actions regarding the young generation. In the discussions that take place within the innovative economy ecosystem, sometimes questions or doubts are raised about whether, for example, this number of events in the innovation economy and startup ecosystem is necessary. Considering the conditions at the time of the death of the ecosystem, are all these actions necessary?”
The vice-chairman of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce explained this issue and stated: “As an active member of the innovation economy ecosystem, who has been in the corporate category as well as with startups and has had a close relationship with our related guild, I would like to say that for an Economic activist, none of these things can hinder their growth and activities. At first, these things weaken our perspectives and then limit our thoughts and the scope of our actions, and we become discouraged from following the path. We should keep in mind that it is necessary for us to be together more and to know the differences between our era and the previous era and to know what the country's needs are today.”
Javanmardi added: "Many of our young people are looking for borderless businesses and cross borders and offer their services and products. I see groups that have found ways to offer their chain of activities. All in all, what we urgently need now are three things: 1- Hope and a broader view, 2- Knowing the macro trends governing the world and the country, and 3- Knowing the differences between value-creating currents in today's world of the innovation ecosystem.”
In this program and during the ceremony with the presence of the members of the board of directors of the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and those involved in the second cycle of NexGen, Seyed Hamidreza Alavi, the founder and former CEO of Trig Up startup was appreciated. Alavi also expressed his satisfaction because of transferring his responsibilities to Sadegh Sobhani at Trig Up startup.
He also appreciated the constant support of Trigup by Fanap Group during his career despite all the challenges and problems that stood in the way of its activity.
Next, 8 startup teams, namely Spoo, Optimeai, Hoama Teb, Amir Pharm, Ilustory, Digi Refahi, Bitycle, andHelpical, introduced their activities and what they were trying to achieve in the future with the aim of attracting capital and other support.
