Officials of Khatam University's Library visited Tehran International Book Fair

With the aim of providing the needed resources for the library of Khatam University, the officials of this unit visited the 34th Tehran International Book Fair.

According to the website of Khatam University, the officials of Khatam University’s library unit participated in and visited the 34th Tehran International Book Fair which had begun on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023. During this visit, Shahrazad Fardakbari, the library director and Melika Khorramshokouh, the librarian of Khatam University’s library, visited various public, academic and international publishers' booths and talked with a number of publishers and professionals.

Additionally, in order to purchase and supply the scientific resources needed by students, faculty members and university staff, the catalogs of publishers such as Rahpardakht, Boors, Asr-E-Moaser, Parse Ketab Translation and Publishing Company, Danesh Afarin, Hormazd, Amut , Sokhan, Nasl-E-Noandish, Kooleposhti, Milkan, Noon, Moon, Shamdoni, Nimage, Roshd, Ketabestan-E-Marefat, Sureye Mehr, Rozegar, Chatrang, Chalesh, Sayeh Sokhan, Setareha, Shadan, Ghasedak-E-Saba, Avaye Chakameh, Chatre Danesh and Jahan Yaraneh Amin Electronic Publisher were received.

During this visit, Shahrazad Fardakbari and Malika Khorramshokouh met with the officials of the Payam Hanan Library and Information Company and Taqcheh book reading application booth. Interviews were conducted with the sales and technical managers of Payam Hanan Company in order to learn about the most up-to-date library equipment and new capabilities of Arian library software. Besides, consultations were held with Siavash Gudarzi, the public relations manager of Taqcheh application, in order to provide the digital resources of the library.

Meanwhile, the officials of Khatam University’s library also met with Zeinab Taheri, a translator of children's books. She has translated the 12-volume collection of the Modern Girls’ Guide, the 4-volume collection of Nixi, and the 6-volume collection of Frank Einstein for teenagers, all of which were published by Iranban publisher. The books of this Iranian translator have won the Lakposhte Parandeh Award.

According to this report, the 34th Tehran International Book Fair offers various services to spread the culture of reading books to the people of science and culture. Among these services, we can refer to "resource search information bases" for immediate identification of publishers' booth locations, "barcode scanning devices" to pay for books, "Gosheye Naqd" hall to review books of local publishers, "Book Consultation" booth to provide advice for book readers, "information" booths to help people with the location of the halls and publishers and respond to the visitors of the Tehran book fair, the "mobile library" of Shemiranat with the capability to offer intellectual games and books for children and teenagers to promote the reading culture and the "Ketab Abad" project with the slogan "Knowledge is wisdom" pointed out to equip libraries in underprivileged areas.
