Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) is a well-established field of study concerned with all subjects related to English language learning and teaching. As an interdiscipline, TEFL draws on various fields of study including linguistics, education, psychology, anthropology, sociology and technology to train language teachers and researchers. TEFL program at Khatam University offers theoretical and practical training to prepare students for teaching jobs, and at the same time provides an opportunity to participate in research on foreign language learning and teaching.
Translation Studies (TS)
Translation Studies (TS) is a fascinating field of study exploring the theory and practice of translation. As an interdiscipline, it is engaged in lively dialogues with a wide range of disciplines including linguistics, psychology, history, cultural/literary studies, philosophy, sociology and politics on theoretical and methodological aspects. The MA program in Translation Studies at Khatam University, which was founded in 2015, offers core training in both theory and practice of translation. The aim is to provide students with a full grasp of research methods, theoretical frameworks, and practical/applied aspects of translation.
English Language and Literature (ENGL)
English Language and Literature (ENGL) is a vast and dynamic field exploring the richness of human expression through written works in the English language. It encompasses a wide range of genres, from poetry and drama to fiction and essays, opening a window into the cultural, historical, and philosophical contexts of various time periods. Studying English Literature allows us to engage with diverse voices, unravel complex narratives, and analyze the intricate interplay between language and meaning. The MA program in English Language and Literature (ENGL) at Khatam University fosters critical thinking and creativity in students through reading and analyzing English classic masterpieces and contemporary works.
