Economics of Cryptocurrencies Summer School




Aim & Focus Areas


The new distributed data structures (e.g. blockchains) and digital assets (e.g. cryptocurrencies) will foster novel services, business models and applications in the next years. These technologies can provide an automated and secure transaction infrastructure for next generation of smart systems while the voluntary user participation to the mining of cryptocurrencies could permit the development of new distributed services that offers an alternative to the advertisement-based revenue system used by most of the “free services” that are currently available. The Tehran Institute for Advanced Studies’ summer school on Economics of Cryptocurrencies aims at gathering together researchers and practitioners to focus on the new challenges posed by the cryptocurrencies with emphasis on economic aspect of it.



Target Audience


The summer school is intended for graduate students, scholars and practitioners with basic knowledge of cryptocurrencies and economics.

Mahdi Mohseni is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in finance in 2015 from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He also received M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in industrial engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran. His current research focuses on corporate governance, control rights, and debt contracts.

Mohammad Amin Sadeghi completed his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently a faculty member in Computer Engineering at the University of Tehran. He is interested in cryptocurrencies and their applications.
